Description Product Introduction Automated test systems need to route signals, switch power to units under test, or control external solenoids. The SCXI-1160 slides into an SCXI chassis and gives you 16 independent SPDT relays to do exactly that. It’s the switching workhorse of the SCXI family. What makes the 1160 different from a simple relay board? Each channel is fully independent—no common connections. You get a common, normally open, and normally closed terminal per relay. In my experience, this is invaluable when you’re switching different signal types (low-level analog, digital, even low-power AC) in the same module. The relays are rated for 2 A at 30 VDC or 250 VAC, so they handle most test system loads. You control them programmatically from LabVIEW or any NI-DAQ supported language. No user-upgradeable firmware. No User Firmware: The module uses fixed logic for relay control. There’s no EPROM to flash. Hardware Revision: Look for Rev 2 or later on the PCB. Rev 1 had a known issue with the relay driver IC—in high-vibration environments, the drivers could intermittently latch relays closed. Rev 2 used a different driver with better hold characteristics.
